How to get my computer to play blu ray?

I recently installed a Blu Ray Drive on my computer.
The firmware is updated and my computer recognizes the drive and i get it to play regular dvds. However, I can’t get my computer to even recognize that there is a blu ray disc inside it.
I have software that is capable of playing hd content (splash pro).
Where should i even start in getting this to work?
